A 16th century, leather-bound folio, dating from around the 16th century, author unknown. The text, in Latin, is a discourse relating astronomical observations to astrological phenomenon, using a variety of geometric methods (some of which are of considerable sophistication). Of less interest to the author, but more to most modern readers, is it's side discussion on the denizens of a particular group of stars; off-hand references can be pieced together to provide a more or less complete description of the rituals that the author (or people of the author's acquaintance) used to contact these entities.

The version of Summon Nightgaunt here requires the sacrifice of human blood; Bind Nightgaunt requires an elaborate circle to be drawn on the floor. Both must be cast at night (or at least dusk), but neither require open sky (the creature materialises out of thing air). It is possible (and advisable) to cast the binding spell before the creature has fully formed, and is still immobile. The summoning spell works as described on CoC5 p143. The binding spell requires the expenditure of three additional magic points, plus a successful POW*5 roll. Contact Nodens is as described on CoC5 p146.
