The new product line at EzraGoode's MolassesDistillery. More like granulated sugar than molasses, Black Molasses Sugar consists of dark, dark red sweet crystals. They dissolve very poorly - a cup of coffee with a spoon of Black Sugar in it will still have about a spoonful of sugar crystals at the bottom; but will nonetheless taste sweet.
Black Molasses Sugar had, since its launch in December 1922, become almost overnight the sugar of choice in Unity. Grocers couldn't keep it in stock, and were getting orders from as far away as Boston. However, after the events of UnearthlyGoode, it is no longer available for sale.
TheCharacters did not suffer the effects of the sugar, as HayesWebster wouldn't allow the stuff in the "tea room" - if asked why he grumbled that it's "Goode for nothing, more like" and refused to be pressed on the matter.
During TheGoodeLife, a vat full of Black Molasses Sugar found its way to the LimeRockSocialistCollective's compost heap, and began to transform them into a single collective entity. TheCharacters were able to save them by destroying the compost heap. It was learnt that the sugar dissolves readily in blood - and can animate it to an extent - and is destroyed by nitric acid.
