Mrs Elizabeth Emai, mysterious widow of an Oriental academic.
Reported in Unity papers 80 years ago as an aquaintance of LouiseBurke and RobertBurke on their return to Unity from China, she returned to China before the unpleasant circumstances that resulted in Robert's death, and Louise's... disappearance.
The following articles mentioned them:
- A society column on the return of the Burkes from the Orient, bringing with them Mrs Elizabeth Emai, widow of a noted professor.
- A society column on a possible romance between Robert Burke - rich son of the Burke family, and the beautiful foreign widow Mrs Elizabeth Emai.
- Society column speculation that the depature of Mrs Emai back to the Orient might be motivated by the intervention of Miss Lousie Burke in a romantic involvement with Mr Robert Burke.
- A headline article in an evening special on the destruction by fire of the Burke house, 15 Boucher Road, Jan 14th, 1850. Both Burkes believed dead in the blaze, fire happened during the day. Police interested in speaking to Louise Burke's personal maid, Hattie Jenkins, who cannot be found.
One 'Liv Emai' was also mentioned as a member of a small (and very dull) clique containing several society members, as recorded in a notebook kept by LouiseBurke.
Recently, a Mrs Emai (looking the spitting image of the Emai photographed 80 years ago) has returned to Unity, and is showing a series of films on "Cultures of the East", as detailed in The Historical Re-enactment Society.
In The Historical Re-enactment Society, Elizabeth Emai was revealed as the spirit of the Huang He river, originally bound (by means of a giant prayer wheel) to serve the Yu Me family for a term of 20 years. Due to the savage nature of the spirit, rather than let it go free and exact a terrible vengance on those who bound it to slavery, the ritual was repeated every 20 years. The society has repeated the pattern, and Emai is now bound to AlexanderGreystone.
Emai tends to take the form of a mid-forties lady, dressed in very proper clothes of a fashion 10-20 years out of date. She appears by walking round the nearest unobserved corner.
