The Gerhardt School Of Juvenile Advancement is a very modern, progressive and expensive boarding school, built in pleasant surroundings out of town on JenksHill, to the west of Unity. It operates according to the principles laid out in the several books published by its principal, DrGerhardt.
The school accepts both male and female boarders, and the two halves of the school are seperated by a high iron railing that is considered an insurmountable barrier to determined teenagers by the school staff. It has proved not to be on at least one occasion, when JamesBlunt and Elisa Short (later ElisaFarley) were thrown out of the school, having crossed the lines once too often. The campus is centered by a tower, which contains the school bell, and forms the administrative heart of the school, with DrGerhardt's office, and a waiting rooms containing matriculation and graduation photos of all the classes.
The school operates according to DrGerhardt's codes of student self-reliance, positive reinforcement, and the motto "Every Child a Success Story". The school has failed to produce any notable success stories to date, in the 7 years it has been operating. DrGerhardt is quick to attribute the lack of success of any particular child to a failure to cooperate by its parents.
