Awakening in Mage...
The awakening of a Mage is the time when they first realise that they can manipulate reality to reflect their aims and wishes: they can wreak magick upon the world. The Mage usually already knew they were Special, but the details were sketchier until this moment of revelation.
It is often, within the traditions, the point when your parens identified themselves to you. There are many reasons for this: safety is the main one. An unstructured awakening can be dangerous, and even the most extreme of the traditions do not want a young untrained adept to be at risk from paradox and quiet when they are ill equipped to cope.
Additionaly within many traditions there are groups who act to bring out the silenced avatar in a ritual. This can vary from the entering of higher consciousness through narcotics, prayer, or both, through to being allowed to jack into the true web for the first time. For certain Euthanatos this ritual is their first contract killing.
Think about your background before awakening, and what led up to agreeing to go and live with a man or woman many years your older to study magic... This will have a key role in the shaping of the Mage's character.
