Gilbert Cobbett runs another shady import business which competes directly with JonathanGray's. Unfortunately (for Gray) he's also fully paid-up with TheMob, so he can't lay a finger on him (though Warehouse C13 did somehow get covered in brown paint, despite being well away from anywhere else that got hit during ShadowTheatre). The UnityPoliceForce are less well-disposed towards the man, so he has to run a slightly tighter ship; however, rumours abound that he's involved in crimes that Gray wouldn't touch with a bargepole.
Oddly for a barman, HayesWebster is quite vocally opposed to Mr. Cobbett's business, and recommends against using his services in all situations. He strenuously denies having originated the above rumours, even as he spreads new ones.
Gil was implicated in the fraud in May 1923 (TheGoldenYears) and was questioned by the police, but insufficient evidence meant he was released without charge. He was caught in a NerveTonic explosion in October of that year (HereBeDragons), and spent some time in the care of DrJackson, but had recovered sufficiently by February 1926 (DeadInTheWater) to supply alcohol to the recently-resigned FrankShort.
