Tue 22 Apr 1924 GOAT MAN ESCAPED (TheGreatestShowOnEarth)
{{{ The UnityPoliceForce are on the lookout for a man described as having "the
head of a goat", after he escaped from T P Burnham's TravellingCircus this morning. We interviewed Mr. Burnham (62) and were told,
- "I'm confident we'll catch him in time for this evening's performance, which promises to be the greatest show on Earth! But even if we don't, the show must go on!"}}}
Wed 23 Apr 1924 CIRCUS CLOSED (TheGreatestShowOnEarth)
- {{{ Circus-going citizens of Unity were this morning upset to hear that
T P Burnham's TravellingCircus was closed for business after further escapes had caused chaos in their midst last night. While we were told there is no cause for alarm, T P Burnham was unavailable for comment.}}}
Thu 24 Apr 1924 CIRCUS RE-OPENS (TheGreatestShowOnEarth)
- {{{ After a turbulent start to the week, the circus has re-opened under the
management of Mr. BladeHiltonall (38), sword-swallower. Hiltonall's TravellingCircus is to remain in Unity until Friday as previously planned.
- We spoke to Mr. Hiltonall (whose real name, we were told, is Albert Hilton)
about Mr. Burnham's decision to leave the circus.
- "We were all sad to see Mr. Burnham go, he was like a father to all of us,
but after two days of escapes he decided that he was too old for the circus life, and he has gone home to retire. Without his guidance, we have had to stop two of our acts, the Museum of Nature's Mistakes and The Great Astoundo, but I assure all visitors that the Travelling Circus remains, as the great man himself stated to this very paper, TheGreatestShowOnEarth."}}}
