Background (Public): Was in the navy, and ship was torpedoed.
Background (Private):
Born in New York to bank clerk Yuri Pavelovich Sidorov, and mother Yelena Andreyova Sidorova. They immigrated to New York in 1892 from near St. Petersburg to further Yuri's mathematics career (land of hope and glory etc.) but found work less readily available than originally planned.
Early life for Fillyp was fairly strict, with both parents projecting their desires for success in the new world on Fillyp, who didn't agree with the ideology having experienced the darker side of growing up in New York. He was sent to a public school, and although showing aptitude in sciences, didn't excel. Accepted into New York University to study astronomy and physics, completed a year before being 'strongly encouraged' to join the US Navy for the 1st World War.
After completion of initial training, was stationed shipboard on USS Mount Vernon as an assistant ship's carpenter, and rapidly raising himself through the ranks to 2nd petty officer. When the ship was torpedoed on 12th September 1918 by a German U-boat, killing 36, Fillyp was first on the scene, commanding the repair crew. This lead to significant trauma, causing him to resign once port was made.
After shipping back to the US, and an argument with his father, he worked at the Providence docks as a dockhand for a few years, before catching the train to Unity and setting up as a carpenter/handyman. Has a small reputation for good work, and getting the job done.
Currently lives in the RiversideDistrict in a rented room of a town house. He has a weakness to gambling and poker, which he wins more times than he loses (helped by use of statistical probability and basic psychology). Smokes dark tobacco roll ups when under stress, but never when relaxing or working. Doesn't drive, preferring to walk. Mostly keeps to himself when not at a gambling den, not by choice, but circumstance. Normally has a bottle of smuggled Vodka in his room, but rarely drinks.
Possessions: Few and far between.
Medium/large collection of tools of the trade (hammers, screwdrivers, lathes, chisels, saws etc). |
A long (~40ft) sturdy rope. |
A deck of cards. |
Colt M1911A1 .45 semi-automatic pistol, and ~80 rounds. Mostly unused, but immaculately serviced. |
