Sergeant Hardy Down (he was promoted in DeadInTheWater, I believe) is yet another (curiously) named police officer. He seems to suffer from misfortune more often than most, including catching an exploding shotgun shell in the face in HowlsInTheNight. He does however look up to DavidSchreiber for his immense prowess with a shotgun and for getting him to hospital alive.
He is a good friend of OfficerMike. He has also made friends with several of the members at 122, and has turned up in the tea room a few times in recent months.
Down lives on his own in a little house on the edge of the slums.
In the prohibition crackdown in BlackAndWhite, much to his regret Down was seconded to the special raiding squad headed by JimAtkins. Down has no problem with alcohol, and will turn a blind eye where possible.
