Character Generation

(Character sheets, front and back, can be found at http://www.chaosium.com/forms/coc1920sheet1.pdf and http://www.chaosium.com/forms/coc1920sheet2.pdf )

Characters are generated as per the 5th edition rules, with the Investigators companion used for Income and anything else that seems more appropriate, with the exception of rolling attributes. These were handled by rolling 2d6+6 twice, and assigning to INT and SIZ either way round, and rolling 3d6 six times, and assigning these as desired amonst the remaining attributes - STR, CON, POW, DEX, APP and EDU; and finally adding 3 to EDU. If you get a boringset of results, you can reroll the entire set, but not too often. This shall be known as Method III, for adequately obvious reasons.

People generating characters should see StyleOfPlay.

The SAN statistic is five times POW.

The IDEA statistic is five times INT.

The LUCK statistic is five times POW.

The KNOW statistic is five times EDU.

HP Max is the average of CON and SIZ.

MP Max is equal to POW.

Starting SP is equal to SAN

EDU * 20 skill points are available for occupation-specific skills.

INT * 10 skill points are available for any skill except Mythos

Mathematics

01%

Covers "higher" mathematics. Artihmitic and other basic stuff is dealt with via an EDU or INT based roll.

Sanity Loss

Despite initial fears to the contary, is seems that the combination of Real Time and the frequency with which we play in Unity leads us to more-or-less stable sanities, so we use the rules as normal.

Psychoanalysis

Again, we use the normal rules, with DrJackson as the psychologist. His Psychoanalysis score is 75.

Sanity Awards

Sanity is awarded at the end of adventures (when "ticks" are resolved) for defeating "mythos" (read; insanity-causing) foes, and should be no more than the maximum sanity loss for encountering them during that adventure

Mythos Books (see UnityMythos)

Each book gets a reading profile like this:

Spurios Exampulem - mythos +6, san loss 1d3/1d6, spell multiplier x1

You roll for SAN loss when you start reading it, but you only lose those when you skim it, and at the *end* of reading it. Underneath, you note how much the player will lose, and how much they have lost. The row in the above example would mean that Jack has already lost 1 when skimming, out of a total loss of 4. He will lose another 1 at the end of week 8, and another 2 at the end of week 10.
